Forensic Link.

SmartTag® uses a handheld pressurised canister to deploy a stream of SmartWater forensic liquid over a distance of 10 metres, invisibly tagging offenders with a unique forensic code. Each SmartTag® canister is assigned to an individual user and this allows police to link offenders back to the criminal incident.

SmartTag® is currently only available to purchase by SIA-licensed security staff, or members of a UK police force.

No, SmartTag® is single use only. Once a SmartTag® canister has been dispensed, it cannot be used again and a replacement canister must be purchased.

The SmartWater forensic liquid inside each SmartTag® canister is invisible to the naked eye but glows bright red under ultraviolet light, which is how it can be detected by law enforcement.
