Anti Intruder Spray System

The SmartWater Index Spray System is an anti-burglary/anti-intruder device, designed to spray intruders with a water-based solution, which contains a unique ‘forensic code’. This creates an irrefutable link between the crime scene and the criminal, often long after the event.

The system can be used overtly  as a powerful deterrent by commercial clients (recent research shows that 74% of criminals would not break into a property displaying SmartWater signage), whilst the police will frequently deploy the system in covert operations to catch persistant and priority offenders. SmartWater Index is used in conjunction with Forensic Coding as part of The SmartWater Strategy^™, supporting a holistic approach to crime reduction and substantially increasing the deterrent.

Activated through a low pressure spray system, the system is triggered when a break-in is detected or a panic button pushed, spraying the criminal in a controlled manner with a non-hazardous water-based solution.  The solution is invisible to the naked eye but any traces will glow brightly under ultraviolet light.

SmartWater Index will remain detectable on skin and hair for weeks and on clothing even longer. By raising the risk of capture and conviction, SmartWater Index intensifies a criminal’s fear of being caught – to the point where they will often abandon their plans in search of a softer target. This makes SmartWater Index one of the most powerful and longstanding criminal deterrents available.

A key component of the SmartWater Strategy includes training to front line officers as well as SOCO/CSI teams through our Police Liaison Managers, a national team of experienced former police officers. SmartWater also supports covert operations through its Crime Support Unit which is available to assist with crime pattern analysis, trends, mapping and other preventative policing support.  All this helps to ensure that the criminal fraternity is educated about SmartWater and fear its 100% court conviction rate.

SmartWater Index has also been deployed within banks, building societies, schools, hospitals, defence establishments, commercial premises and retail outlets.
