Police are cracking down on the sale of stolen property in Mansfield and Ashfield.
Officers are encouraging people to register serial numbers of electrical items and mark all valuables with SmartWater.
Det Insp Martin Putnar, of Ashfield CID, said: “Often people who buy stolen goods think they are getting a bargain, but fail to think about where it has come from or how they would feel if their home had been burgled and their hard-earned valuables were being sold on the streets.
“If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. People should be reminded that those who receive stolen goods are as much responsible for the misery caused to the victim as the criminal who stole them.”
