The SmartWater StrategyTM uses two main product categories as the platform for a range of crime reduction initiatives:
Forensic Property Coding - technologically sophisticated but simple in application. A chemical trace, similar to, but more robust than DNA, is used to forensically ‘code’ or mark property and valuables. SmartWater is a generic property marker which can be used to mark anything from lead roofs to a wedding ring. Warning signage and labels are used to ‘advertise’ this fact to would-be criminals.
The Smartwater Index Spray System - used to spray intruders or even robbers with an invisible liquid which marks the skin and clothing of the criminal. The product remains on the skin for weeks and even longer on clothing. This irrefutably links the criminal with the scene of the crime, leading to inevitable prosecution and conviction.
