Answers

Can we buy window warning labels or property stickers?

Under normal circumstances, you may only obtain additional labels if you purchase additional kits. Provision of additional labels is carefully controlled and monitored. We would not normally provide any additional stickers. However, if you have special requirement for additional stickers, please contact your Police Liaison Manager.

How do I order SmartWater kits?

We will need a signed order from an authorised signatory. Please call your Police Liaison Manager and they will be able to arrange a quote/order form for you to complete and return.

How do I pay for the order?

We will invoice you within 30 days. You may pay by cheque and we also accept payment direct to our bank account via BACS.

When can I expect delivery?

We will arrange with you personally when you can expect delivery. Often, police forces choose to draw down stock as required; please let us know what your Force’s roll-out requirements are.

People within the scheme may move house. How can I obtain new window warning labels for their new property?

If you receive such an enquiry, please ask the property owner for confirmation of their new address (e.g. you should see evidence such as a utility bill), then let us know and we will be happy to forward new stickers to the property owner at their new address. Please ask the property owner to remove the window warning labels from their existing property.

How does this affect their registration on the National Security Register?

SmartWater will update the details on the National Security Register. It is also important, if your Force has a policy of maintaining a local database/list, to ensure that it is also updated.

Is the previous house/business still protected by SmartWater?

No. This will have been removed from the National Security Register. But you may consider it worthwhile offering the new owners the opportunity to protect their property with SmartWater in order to maintain the deterrent effect of the local scheme.

What happens if the owner sells an item which is coded with SmartWater?

This is not a problem. They should simply make a note of the item they have sold and the person they sold it to. They should also provide a receipt to the buyer, so the buyer has proof of purchase. Even if the new owner does not choose to SmartWater the item themselves, the code will help police track down the owner should the goods be stolen and later recovered.

A property owner has replaced their windows. Can I have more warning labels?

Yes, this is a legitimate reason for providing new warning labels. If a property owner has replaced their windows, we can provide replacement SmartWater warning labels free of charge provided they can confirm that they have replaced their window(s) e.g. provide a copy of the invoice.

How much does SmartWater forensic analysis cost?

Analysis of samples and subsequent provision of CJ witness statements is provided completely FREE of charge.

Do CDRP's qualify to run Community Schemes?

Yes. Please contact your Police Liaison Manager if you require further assistance.

Can you provide details of how to apply for a Community Scheme?

Please contact your Regional Police Liaison Manager.

Would a community scheme for farm trailers be a viable initiative?

We offer a Farm Watch scheme along-side our Community Scheme, please refer to your regional Police Liaison Manager for details.

How do I find out who my local Police Liaison Manager is?
